VERSAFIN adaptor transform your conventional windsurf wave board into a pure wave surf experience. Without any change or customization in the windsurf board gain access to the high end application of the Surf fin configurations, and mount them to any multifin Windsurfing wave board
Why Surf Fin technologies on a wave windsurf board?
Asymmetrical foil surf type fin technology with the appropriate toe in & cant angles, enchanges the total behavior and performance of any multifin windsurf board with extra speed, control and confidence on the critical zone of the wave
In details:
- Tighter archs / higher rail to rail acceleration & performance through the turns
- Higher speed with better control during the turn
- Optimal lift to drag ratio
- More Rail bite
Extensive range of fins options to choose:
- Fin material technologies with difference flex and response
- Layout design for different control, speed or balance through the turn
- Asymmetrical foils designs 80/20, Flat, IFT for different carving performance
- Full customize the turnability of your board
- Less total weight (fins & adaptorsaves up to 30-150 gr)
Design & Material
An innovative heavy duty high quality and super light custom composite material ensures great stiffness and fitment. Designed, engineered & tested in Crete Greece by Surfilsland team(Pat pending) in cooperation With Olympic Gold and Silver Medalist, 3 × World Champion Nikos Kaklamanakis
Toe in Calculation
Calculate your Side fin conventional board Toe in Angle (of your fin boxes) and choose between 2 – 3.0 degrees adaptor for a 2.5-3.5 total amount of the toe in fin angle in the board
For 80/20 asymmetric fin foil an average of toe in of 2 – 2.5 is optimum
For Flat/IFT asymmetric fin foil an average of toe in of 2.5 – 3.0 is optimum
For instance a 100mm Slot Box fin length measure the total difference in distance from top and bottom of the box. For example, if difference is 3mm then your board has 1.0 toe in angle which means an adaptor with 2.0 toe in angle is optimum for a total 3.0
Check the following table for more detailed tow in angle calculations for the most the common systems

Fin setup Options
Quad setup Options
Asymmetrical side surf fins with regular windsurfing back fins can be used to get the performance of the toe in, foiled setup of front fins which give a really high rail to rail performance and control through the turns without loosing the acceleration of the board in straight line. Very good setup for overall wave or jumping conditions
Suggestions for an 75-80kgr average rider:
Side surf fins with 7150mm2 surface area from rear trailer with 80/20 foil or 8000mm2 surface area from Grom side fins and
Quad windsurfing wave rear fins with 13cm depth and 9800mm2 - 10500mm2 surface area
For example in a quad 75-85lit wave board, replace your 8,9cm windsurfing fronts with a Grom or Xsmal front fin (10cm depth) with Flat or IFT foil and Drop down 2cm (or two sizes) smaller in your rear quad trailer windsurfing fins
Thruster setup Options
Asymmetrical side fins with regular symmetrical windsurfing rear fins. In that case by using the regular size for rear windsurfing fin and a smallest side fin you gain really good acceleration and control through the turns without losing the acceleration of the board in straight line. A really good setup for overall wave or jumping conditions.
Suggestions for an 75-80kgr average rider: Side fins:8500mm2 – 10000mm2 Small / Medium with Flat, IFT, 80/20 foil technology.
Center rear fins: 11000mm2 – 13000mm2 or 15cm or 16cm depth regular wave windsurfing fins.
For example in a quad 75-85lit wave board,
Option 1: Replace your 10cm windsurfing fronts with a Grom or Xsmal front fin (10 up to 11 cm) with Flat or IFT foil and keep the same back fin.
Option 2:Replace your 10cm windsurfing fronts with a Medium front fin (11.5 cm) with Flat or IFT foil and drop down 2cm (or two sizes) in your thruster trailer windsurfing fin. If you were using 11cm fronts, drop down one size (1cm ) on your thruster trailer windsurfing fin.
Full quad surf fins setup options
Pure wave riding performance with maximum acceleration, control, drive and speed through the turns and very good performance on straight line. Most benefit in pure wave sailing conditions with side to side off wind. Maximum surfy feeling.
Suggestions for an 75-80kgr average rider: Side fins:9300mm2 – 98000mm2 Small – Medium with Flat, IFT, 80/20 foil technology.
Quad back fins with 9400mm2 -10500mm2 surface area Large – Medium with 50/50 symmetrical foil
For example in a 75-85lit wave board,
Option 1: Replace your 8 or 9cm windsurfing fronts with a Small front surf fin with Flat or IFT asymetrical foil
Replace your 14,15,16 windsurfing back fins with a pair of Large trailer back fins (around 12 cm) with 50/50 symetrical foil and 0-1 toe in angle. Alternativelly with 1 degree toe in rear adaptor set with Large surf asymmetrical fins.
Option 2: Replace your 8 or 9cm windsurfing fronts with a medium front surf fin with Flat or IFT asymetrical foil.
Replace your 14,15,16 windsurfing back fins with a pair of medium trailer back fins (around f fin with Flat or IFT foil
Full Thruster surf fins setup options12 cm) with 50/50 foil 0-1 toe in angle. Alternatively with 1 degree toe
in rear adaptor set with medium surf asymmetrical fins.
Pure wave riding performance with maximum acceleration control and speed through the turns and very good speed on straight line. Most benefit in pure wave sailing conditions with side to side off wind and maximum surfy feeling.
Suggestions for a 75-80kgr average rider: Side fins:9300mm2 – 10500mm2 Medium -Large with Flat, IFT, 80/20 foil technology.
Center back fin with 10500mm2 -12000mm2 surface area XLarge – Large with 50/50 symmetrical foil.
For example in a 75-85lit wave board
Option 1: Replace your 10cm windsurfing fronts and 17 cm back fin with a Large Thruster surf Fin set. Put your back thruster fin full to the back.
Option 2:Replace your 10cm windsurfing fronts and 17 cm back fin with a medium Thruster surf Fin side fins with Xlarge back thruster. Put your back thruster fin full to the back
Option 3: If you are very light or very heavy rider you can choose a smaller (M) in your 69lit board of bigger (XL) thruster surf fin on your 95-105lit board.
For more information regarding sizing please check out what the each fin manufacture suggest.
Fitting instructions:
- Insert your fin into its Fin Adapter (Left, Right and Center/Rear).
- Secure your fin to the Fin Adapter using the provided stainless-steel set screws and the hex alen key
- Insert the adapter and fin assembly into the corresponding type fin box (Left, Right and Center/Rear) as you normally would and secure the assembly with the fin-box set screw.
Special notes
Regarding adaptor appropriate fitment it has to be counted that tolerance is +/- 5% over the finbox dimensions, so in some cases a light sanding needed with 220grant sandpaper over a flat surface.
Handling and care
Surf fins due to their super light construction (in comparison with windsurf fin rtm technology) are much more sensitive when they get in contact with the shore or the rocks. An extra care needs to be taken to avoid damages or total distraction of the fins or the board. We don’t take responsibility for any fin loss or damage in your board.
